Company doctors

The Gesellschaft zur Qualitätssicherung in der betrieblichen Betreuung (GQB - Society for Quality Assurance in Occupational Health) is an association of company doctors and it implements a voluntary quality assurance scheme. The members of this association are certified to verify that they meet the quality conditions to enable them to carry out their tasks under section 6 of the Occupational Safety Act.

On 24 December 2008 the Ordinance on Occupational Health Care (ArbMedVV) came into force. The dual provisions on occupational health care previously contained in governmental law and in the accident prevention regulations were amalgamated in the ArbMedVV. Article 7 of the Ordinance regulates the requirements to be met by the physicians who may be delegated to perform preventive occupational medical examinations under ArbMedVV.

The new Ordinance creates the statutory basis for a sustainable health care in companies. As a result of this Ordinance, any contrary provisions in BGV A4 – including the empowerment regulations – may no longer be applied.
