About the database

There are in Germany a large number of practical aids for the conduct of risk assessments. These may either be of a general nature or they may relate to certain sectors, workplaces and types of risk. It is estimated that there exist about 1000 different practical aids.

With our database we wish to ease your way in gaining access to these practical aids by offering various search possibilities. Alongside the plain text search, you can specify the search enquiries to the database more precisely by means of extended search criteria, such as providers, sectors and type of hazard.

On the occasion of the European Week 2008/2009 the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work in Bilbao also compiled a database with various tools for the risk assessment from throughout Europe. The content of our database is being transmitted to the EU database via an interface.

We – Germany and the EU – are still in the initial phase with our database. The goal we are pursuing is to motivate in the medium term all providers of risk assessments in the non-profit domain, i.e. non-profit organisations/enterprises, to make their practical aids available to the general public. The prerequisite for this is that the practical aids offered are in accordance with the quality principles for the compilation of practical aids for a risk assessment adopted by the bodies responsible for the Joint German OSH Strategy (GDA).

Our providers are

  • the accident insurance institutions,
  • the governmental occupational safety and health authorities,
  • the organisations of the social partners and
  • ministries and governmental authorities, such as the Federal Institute for Occupational safety and Health (BAuA).
