Instructions for use
Before you start, read the following remarks on the use of practical aids listed in the database:
- Completeness
- The practical aids represent model risk assessments. In the practical aids the hazards frequently encountered and possible measures are given. Basically completeness cannot be assumed. The risk assessment always has to be supplemented by company-specific aspects.
- On-site inspection
- The practical aids cannot replace the on-site inspection in the company because the operating conditions considered here by way of example cannot take account, or only partly, of the special features of individual establishments. It should therefore always be checked whether the statements regarding the respective company circumstances can be transferred and whether possibly additional hazards are relevant. If additional hazards are present, the practical aids must be supplemented accordingly.
- Risk evaluation
- The risk evaluation is conducted by the employer or the person responsible for the risk assessment. The practical instructions only give model suggestions. The particular company circumstances must always be considered in the risk evaluation.
- Need for action
- The need for action is determined by the risk accepted in the company. This is fixed primarily by the employer or the person responsible. At the same time it is necessary to comply with laws, ordinances and regulations.
- Dynamic process
- Occupational safety and health in the company, being a dynamic process, is subject to constant change. The risk assessment must therefore also be updated. It must be adjusted at the latest when the company circumstances, knowledge available, technologies, state of the art etc. change.
- Documentation
- A certain form is not laid down for the documentation of the risk assessment. Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act the documentation must contain at least the following points:
- the result of the risk assessment according to section 5 ArbSchG,
- occupational safety and health measures stipulated (section 3 subs. 1 ArbSchG),
- the result of the check of the effectiveness of the occupational safety and health measures (section 3 subs. 1 sentence 2 ArbSchG)
The present practical aids can be used in adapted form as documentation.
